Dy CM stresses roles of religious leaders

Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam has categorically stated that it would not be difficult to bring peace, harmony and collective development in any society if leaders of different religious faiths continue to work with dedication and faith in the Almighty.
Gaikhangam was speaking at the closing session of the sixth conference of Kuki Baptist Convention (KBC).
Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, IFC Minister Ngamthang Haokip and Sadar Hills ADC Member L Johny Gangmei attended the closing function of the conference held at Kotlen along Imphal-Jiribam highway under Saitu Assembly segment since January 21 as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.

Peace and progress can be achieved when people who know and have faith in God becomes the majority in society.
No holy books or religious faiths advocate violence.
He then called upon the gathering to give up all tendency towards violence and embrace politeness.
Peace and development will grow in tandem with the degree of dedication made by religious leaders.
Pointing out that golden jubilees, diamond jubilees and even centenary functions about advent of Christianity in the State have been celebrated, Gaikhangam asked all the people to introspect whether these events have brought any significant changes to the society.
He went on to ask if internal or ethnic conflicts can leave any positive legacy to future generations.
Gaikhangam also appealed to all the people of Manipur to shed all tendencies of hatred, arrogance and confrontation.
Ngamthang Haokip called upon the gathering to share due responsibility towards restoring mutual respect, peace and development across the State.
The closing function also featured traditional dance and music programmes.
