Imphal, August 23 2013 :
The United Committee Manipur (UCM) has today said that the deliberate silence of the Government over the reported attempt of Myanmar Army to set up its base camp in Manipur's territory is enough reason to provoke the people of the State.
Against this backdrop, the UCM would convene a public meeting on September 1 .
A statement issued by the IPR secretary of UCM said that India had even declared war on Pakistan, known as 'Kargil War' against Pakistani troops' incursion into Indian territory crossing the LoC.
On another front, a Central team led by the Home Minister had overseen the reported incursion of Chinese troops in Arunachal Pradesh in the not too distant past, it said.
But the silence of the Centre and State Governments over the reported intrusion of Myanmarese army into Manipur territory is enough to provoke the people of the State.
In case of any unwanted situation arising out of this provocation, the Governments at the Centre and State should be held responsible, the statement added.
It urged all concerned to attend the meeting without fail.
Further details of the meeting can be had from the UCM office.
