Imphal, July 22 2022:
As part of outreach initiative of the central government, Union minister of state for external affairs and education, Dr Rajkumar Ranjan Singh will visit the state on July 23 and 24 .
During the visit, Dr Ranjan will review various developmental parameters of the Chandel aspirational district, including access to primary education, healthcare facilities, electricity, safe drinking water, etc.
Financial Inclusion programmes and skill development initiatives being undertaken by the District Administration will also be reviewed.
The visit of the MoS is part of the ongoing efforts being
made by the government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi to obtain first-hand information on the difficulties and challenges faced by various Aspirational District across North East India in implementing centrally sponsored schemes and meeting developmental targets.
These visits also give a chance to understand best practices undertaken by some of the aspirational districts, some
of which may be extrapolated for implementation in other districts facing developmental challenges of similar nature.
During his visit to Chandel, Dr Ranjan Singh also plans to meet and interact with local communities, to understand the efficiency of district administration's service delivery to the citizens.
It may be noted that the present central dispensation has put service delivery to the last
mile citizen, as a cornerstone of its good governance policy.
This visit is a step towards trying to ensure efficient service delivery to the citizen.
It may be recalled that Aspirational District Programme was launched by PM Modi in January 2018, with the aim to quickly and effectively transform 112 most under-developed districts across the country.
Broadly the programme seeks convergence
of central & state developmental schemes, collaboration between various Governance Structures (Central, State level 'Prabhari' Officers & District Collectors) and competition among districts through monthly delta ranking.
The ranking is designed on progress made across 49 Key Performance Indicators, under five broad socio-economic themes - Health & Nutrition, Education, Agriculture & Water
Resources, Financial Inclusion & Skill Development and Infrastructure.
