A woman who escaped from the custody of the proscribed RPF after being pulled up with mitha mana surrendered to the outfit today.
For her offence of dealing in banned mitha mana and running away from the outfit's custody, the woman was penalised by cutting off her hair.
The woman identified as Sudha Tamang (26) who runs a shop at Leimakhong Bazar was produced before media persons at a location in a valley district today.
Together with her, the driver and the owner of the DI Tata used by Sudha Tamang for transportation of Mitha Mana was also produced before the media persons by a spokesperson of the outfit.
On May 17, Sudha Tamang was apprehended by RPF cadres at Kanglatongbi but managed to escape in a DI Tata.
She used to supply mitha mana and zarda in Leimakhong area after bringing these items from Senapati.
The spokesperson said that Sudha will be tonsured as punishment before handing her over to family members.
Moreover, her shop has been prohibited from opening for six months.
On investigation by the party, it has been established that DI Tata driver N Dev of Koutruk and owner N Tamonao of Khurkhul Mamang Leikai are not guilty.
Yet, the vehicle has been from doing service for six months, declared the spokesperson.
He further one Hari Sharma and Meena to surrender to the outfit within five days for supplying mitha mana and zarda.
Hari runs a grocery shop at a rented plot belonging to MLA N Biren at Leimakhong Bazar while Meena keeps a betel shop at Leimakhong bus parking, he disclosed.
