Imphal, August 18 2016:
Deputy
Chief Minister and Home
Minister Gaikhangam has
categorically stated that the
arrest of Khomdram Ratan
would be dealt according to law
and the law will take its own
course.
Speaking to mediapersons
at Manipur Press Club here
today after the release func-
tion of K Bobin's 7th solo
music video album
Yai, Yai
Dum Yai
, Gaikhangam stated
that the process of drafting a
new Bill which can effec-
tively protect indigenous peo-
ples of Manipur is going on
in full swing.
The Bill is being drafted
so meticulously that it is ac-
ceptable to both the hill
people and plain people and it
is free from any form of con-
troversy.
The new draft basically
aims at protecting the indig-
enous people of Manipur who
constitute a microscopic mi-
nority as compared to the total
population of India.
There is
no malicious intention behind
the Bill and the Government
has been working hard to
fulfil the aspirations of all
people, Gaikhangam asserted.
Apart from the Deputy
Chief Minister, Social Wel-
fare Minister AK Mirabai,
Kumbi AC MLA S Bira and
AMWJU president
Wangkhemcha Shamjai were
also present at the music video
release function.
Speaking at the gathering,
Gaikhangam underscored the
immense role of singers and
artistes in fighting corrup-
tions of different forms.
Corruption flourishes in
Manipur because there are
vast number of people who are ever ready to offer bribes and equal
number of people always enthusiastic to receive them, he remarked.
Music, plays, dramas and literature should be used in a
constructive manner as powerful tools for social reformation.
There is a growing need for a collective struggle to make
Manipur a vibrant and progressive society, he added.
