Imphal, June 18:
Influential Naga leader and MLA, Prof Gangmumei Kamei has dismissed the Naga Hoho threat of Naga exodus from Manipur valley as false and asked all sections of the people to stand united and fight for the territorial integrity of the State.
Warning the Naga Hoho president M Vero not to interfere in the affairs of the valley Nagas, he said The Naga Hoho president, M Veros threat of the exodus of Nagas living in Manipur valley, if the present protest continues, is unwise and uncalled for.
It will add a communal angle to the issue, Prof Gangmumei Kamei said calling up the office of the Imphal Free Press.
He further said, it (Naga exodus) will add fuel to the fire in the tension ridden in Manipur.
Poiting out that the Nagas of Manipur valley are living peacefully along with the valley brethren for centuries, the Federal Party president said There are more than 50,000 in the valley.
How the exodus will be possible? he dismissed that there was any question of exodus of the Nagas from the Manipur valley.
I urged the Naga Hoho not to interfere with the affairs of the valley Nagas he said.
Gangmumei Kamei also appealed to all sections of the people to remain united in the struggle for unity and integrity of Manipur and maintain peace and harmony amongst the people.
While welcoming the efforts made by the government of India and the NSCN (IM) for a peaceful settlement of the Naga problem, he said the extension of the ceasefire is against the wishes of the people and Government of Manipur has expressed through the resolutions of the Assembly and the state Cabinet against such an extension.
The government of India failed to keep its assurances not to extend the ceasefire to Manipur.
So, the latest assurance of the Union Home minister to maintain the territorial integrity of Manipur lacks credibility.
