Imphal, June 15 2014:
Reacting swiftly to MLA Shyamkumar's move of suspending six MLAs from the party's primary membership on the charge of acting against the party, Manipur Pradesh Trinamool Congress led by MLA Joykisan has expelled Shyamkumar from the party for six years on the same charge of anti-party activities.
Incidentally MPTC has seven MLAs.
While the camp led by Joykisan has six MLAs, the other camp has only one MLA.
A written representation submitted by Joykisan on June 10 to the Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker appealed to treat Shyamkumar as an unattached Member citing that Shyamkumar has been expelled from the party for six years for his anti-party activities.
The resolution to expel Shyamkumar was adopted after a decision taken by the party's disciplinary committee was approved by the party's executive committee during a meeting held at the quarters of MPTC legislature wing leader MLA M Kunjo on June 10 .
Speaking to media persons at the quarters of M Kunjo today, Joykisan remarked that two separate orders issued by Derek O' Brien and AITC general secretary Mukul Roy about appointment of Shyamkumar as MPTC president were rather confusing.
The order reportedly issued by Mukul Roy about expulsion of six MLAs from the party would have been a forged one.
Manipur Trinamool Congress is a State political party already recognised by the ECI and moreover its symbol has been reserved.
Mukul Roy's order was irrelevant and unbinding, Joykisan said.
To elect party president and executive committee members through election is clearly written in the party's rules.
All these ambiguities, confusion and vagueness would be cleared once the Speaker returns to Imphal on June 18, he added.
