Bishnupur cops rescue hostage, nab 4 abductors

Imphal, January 15 2017:
Bishnupur district police have successfully rescued a man who has been held hostage for ransom apart from arresting four abductors.
A press release issued by Bishnupur SP, Jogeshchandra Haobijam identified the four alleged abductors as Sandham Daho alias Shantikumar of Tangjeng (arrested from Singjamei Thongam Leikai), K Lalit Singh of Tangjeng (arrested from Langthabal Khunja), N Ingocha from Ithai and Md Junet from Mayang Imphal Bengul Maning.
Two country-made pistols and five numbers of 9 mm ammunition, three mobile handsets, a sum of Rs 20,000 and one auto rickshaw were recovered from them.

Following a complaint filed by Thiyam Romesh (33) s/o Th Manibabu of Pombikhok Awang Leikai at Kumbi police station on January 4, the Superintendent of Police, Bishnupur organised special teams of Bishnupur district commando led by the Additional Superintendent of Police (OPS), Bishnupur and conducted intense search operation in different places.
According to the complaint, some unknown armed persons entered Romesh's house and forcibly asked him to take them to a particular destination in his own truck.
Fering for his life, Romesh's brother Rajesh Thiyam alias Khomei accompanied by a boy named Amuthoi (14) drove them in their truck.
Near Sangaikot, the armed persons left the boy behind and took Rajesh as hostage in a white Alto car.
At 11 pm, Romesh was informed to bring a sum of Rs 50 lakh as ransom.
After intensive search operations, Bishnupur district police rescued the hostage on January 7.This was followed by the arrest of the four abductors in the intervening night of January 9 and 10, it added.
