The State sponsored Thangjam Manorama Devi death inquiry commission is all set to submit its findings to the Manipur Govt on November16, three days after the deadline set by the State authorities.
Retired Session Judge C Upendra Singh, chairperson of the panel is working overtime to complete the report at the premises of the State Guest House here, a highly placed source said.
The panel was supposed to submit its report yesterday but the day being a holiday on account of Diwali, it could not submit in time, informed the source adding that the panel would submit the same either to the Chief Minister or Chief Secretary on November 16.Except for one or two areas everything is prepared for furnishing the probe details; it said adding that the report would have over 100 pages.
The panel would also inform the matter to the principal seat of the Gauhati High Court through a lawyer.
Bullet riddled body of 32-year old Manorama was found near Laipharok Maring Village in Imphal East in the morning of July 11, 2004.She was picked up by personnel of 17 Assam Rifles on the intervening night of July 10 and 11 from her Bamon Kampu residence and her body found in the morning.
Owing to massive public protest against the brutal killing of the woman, Secular Progressive front (SPF) Govt had on July 13 instituted the commission to establish the facts and circumstances leading to the death of Manorama.
Following a verdict of the Guwahati High Court, AR witnesses were examined in camera at the premises of Imphal Central Jail.
