Imphal, October 13 2017:
Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) celebrated its 19th Foundation Day today at KYDC Community Hall, Konjeng Hajari Leikai, Keishampat .
The function was attended by MSF's former presidents Ph Nando Luwang, Kh Gourachandra, S Sanjoy, Md Atabuddin, Ngariyanbam Milan, Longjam Umakanta, Kh Serajuddin, O Nandababu and current president N Muktangamba Mangang as the presidium members .
Speaking at the function, Nando Luwang decried the education system in the State and pointed out that the worsening/deterioration of education system is due to absence of responsible authority to monitor education in the State .
He further asked MSF leaders and volunteers to set a goal while trying to create a fine academic system in the State and actively involve in its relevant activities .
Highlighting various social issues prevailing in the State, he opined that connotation of 'indigenous people' and 'setting base year for passing a Bill to prevent influx of migrants in the State' cannot go parallel .
He also said that Rohingya issues surfacing in the State should not create any problem to the public of Manipur and the entire responsibility to prevent influx of Rohingyas to the State and North East should be taken by Centre and State Governments.
Sanjoy observed that there has not been any significant change in the education system of Manipur since the time of British colonial period .
Reminding that the world has been growing faster in so many ways, he urged the people of the State, particularly the students' community to learn properly and contribute significant things to Manipur which are worthy to be looked at by other countries.
He also asked the youth and students of the State to bring transformation in Manipur thereby rectifying the wrong things prevailing in the Manipuri society.
MUSU's president Mayanglambam Buchi while speaking as an invitee lamented that the quality of education in the State is lower compared with other States even though many educational institutions are coming up in the State.
There are various factors for this and one major factor is that students do not make honest pursuit of knowledge while learning, he pointed out .
Students' bodies and community need to introspect in this regard and the leaders of the students' organizations/bodies should make themselves the role models for other students in the society by learning properly, he added .
Former AMUCO president KT Rahaman and COHR's advisor Phulindro Konsam were also among the invitees at the function.
