The 12 hour hill areas bandh jointly called by All Naga Students' Association of Manipur and All College Tribal Students' Union, Manipur demanding revocation of AFSPA, 1958 from the State passed off peacefully with no untoward incident.
The bandh was also supported by Kuki Students' Organisation.
In a joint statement issued by the general secretaries of ANSAM, Robert Maram and ACT-SUM, Samson Remei, it said that the Act is not against any particular community whether it be Meitei, Naga and Kuki, but is a crime against all humanity.
It should be condemned by all right thinking people.
The statement said that the bandh was supported by the people of all the hill districts with shops downing shutters in all hill districts and vehicles staying off the road.
Memorandum were submitted to Union Home Minister through Deputy Commissioners of Tamenglong, Chandel, Ukhrul and Senapati districts demanding revocation of AFSPA from the State.
