Imphal, July 11 2015 :
Delhi Manipur students and residents today staged a protest march under the theme "Protest against brutality of State forces and to protect the people of Manipur from demographic invasion" .
The march was organised by the Manipur Students' Association Delhi (MSAD).
A large number of protesters took out a march from Vijay Nagar to Vishwvidyalay Metro Station, according to a statement.
The march was in protest against the brutal repression of the democratic agitation for the protection of the rights of the indigenous people in Manipur from the unregulated population invasion by migrants who under the alleged protection of the Indian military establishments took con- trol of the land, labour, resources and market.
Many have been injured in the series of repressions and a student Sapam Robinhood was
killed on July 8 .

In addition to the shutting down of educational establishments, curfew has been imposed, suspending free movement of the people.
The protest march raised various slogans such as 'Stop State Terrorism,' 'Long Live People's Struggle,' and 'Long Live People's Democracy,' the MSAD statement said.
Meanwhile, North-East Forum for International Solidarity (NEFIS) today joined the protest organised by MSAD.
The incident where a student, Sapam Robinhood was killed on July 8 is connected to other past incidents where peoples' right to dissent has been gagged by the authorities and their democratic right to protest against the Government were violated, a statement issued by NEFIS said.
It is shameful that police could not tolerate even a peaceful protest by students and attempting to disperse the protesters using reprehensible means.
A delegation of NEFIS had also met the Resident Commissioner of Manipur and submitted a memorandum addressed to the Chief Minister of Manipur on July 9 .
NEFIS will continue to raise the issue, if the police personnel responsible is not immediately reprimanded, it said.
