JLF mooted to settle Naga issue

The elected representatives in Nagaland today resolved to constitute a Joint Legislators' Forum (JLF) to settle the over six decade-old Naga political issue and press for its early settlement.
The unanimous resolution was adopted during a closed door meeting of the legislature parties and Independent MLAs constituting Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN) held at the State banquet hall here in the Chief Minister's residential office today evening.
With the induction of Congress into the DAN Ministry on May 8 last, presently the State is bereft of any Opposition with DAN comprising elected representatives from all the political parties � NPF, BJP, Congress, JD(U), NCP and Independent MLAs in the 60-member State Assembly.
The House unanimously resolved that a JLF on Naga political issue be formed comprising all members of the 12th Legislative Assembly (NLA), stated a joint statement issued by all the parties under DAN.
They also resolved to work as a facilitator and press for early settlement of the Naga political issue.
The meeting also requested the Speaker of the Nagaland Assembly to convene a meeting of all legislators of the 12th NLA for the purpose of forming the JLF on the Naga political issue, and if necessary, to form a sub-committee of the JLF that will represent the collective will and voice of the Assembly to pursue for early solution.
