Imphal, April 11 2016:
On the occasion of 'martyrs day' (April 13), the proscribed RPF has paid rich tributes to all the martyrs who laid down their lives in the course of the ongoing 'freedom struggle' .
It also conveyed deepest respect to all the people who have been killed or maimed for life by adversary forces.
A statement issued by the outfit's Secretary Publicity Roben Khuman informed that people have been paying homage to the martyrs at Cheiraoching on April 13 every year where a cenotaph has also been built taking the date of a major battle fought by RPF against adversary forces.
"Death after living a life of freedom just for a moment is far better than living under slavery for 100 years" was a popular saying among Manipuri patriots of yesteryears.
Following their footsteps, a large number of people fought till their last breath against the alleged Indian occupation of Manipur thereby paving a path to freedom for future generations, the outfit asserted.
The sorry state of contemporary Manipur is a result of the alleged annexation of Manipur into the Indian Union in 1949 .
Manipur can achieve peace, progress and security only when it is freed from the colonial yoke.
To wage a war of liberation against India is the first priority of RPF, said the outfit.
To RPF, an armed campaign is the only plausible means to liberate Manipur because racism runs deep in the common psyche of Indian people and the country has been violating many international laws and covenants.
Although India claims itself to be the biggest democracy in the world, many black laws like AFSPA is in force in Manipur.
RPF and like minded revolutionary groups have been fighting against the alien rule and the struggle will continue until Manipur regains its sovereignty, it asserted.
The outfit then appealed to all the people to pay homage to the 'martyrs' at Cheiraoching cenotaph on April 13 and light up residential gates with lamps in the evening in honour of the 'martyrs' .
RPF further appealed to stay away from organising or take part in any form of entertainment programmes on April 13 .
