Imphal, November 10 2021:
The Communist Party of India, Manipur State Council (CPI-MSC) has claimed that deduction of fuel prices when election is round the corner is a ploy to befool the people.
The CPI-MSC in a press release said that the move of the Modi-led BJP Government to reduce fuel prices after raising it to an unprecedented level and piling up misery on lower and middle class citizens for months is nothing but a strategy to win Assembly elections in some States including Manipur.
People should be very aware of the fact that the cut on fuel prices was witnessed recently in the wake of bypolls conducted for some Assembly seats in Assam, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Union Territory of Puducherry before prices were gradually hiked again till November 3, the Left party said.
The Central Government on the pretext of fighting Covid pandemic, paid a deaf ear to the suggestions of economic experts that staggering rise in fuel prices will eventually speed up inflation and prove burdensome to working class people which constitute the majority of the Indian population, charged CPI-MSC.
Moreover, the price of LPG refills was raised on multiple occasions, noted CPI -MSC.
The sudden price cut of fuel prices on the eve of Diwali was nothing but a political stunt by the Modi-led Government in the wake of State Assembly elections due to be held in the early part of 2022, CPI-MSC charged.
With the meagre reduction in the prices of petrol and diesel after hiking it for months, the saffron party is just pretending to be very caring and loving to all.
The party was forced to reduce excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 5 and Rs 10 because of the apprehension that the saffron party may suffer a setback in Uttar Pradesh which is considered its stronghold, the CPI-MSC said.
If the party truly cares for the people, not less than 30 percent of taxes levied on petroleum products should be reduced, the CPI-MSC continued.
