MPCC celebrates Sonia's 66th birthday

As done in other parts of the country, the 66th birthday of Congress President Sonia Gandhi was also celebrated in the State under the auspices of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) at Congress Bhawan here today.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister O Ibobi said that Sonia Gandhi has made extreme sacrifices for the country.
The quality of loving all the communities in the country equally which she possesses and her desire to let peace prevail in the society should be admired by all of us and see that peace actually prevails through her sacrificial qualities.
The Chief Minister called upon everyone present on the occasion to follow the footsteps of the Gandhi family and inculcate a sense of sacrifice like them for strengthening Congress party in the State.
Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, who is also in-charge of Home and serving as President of MPCC, observed that it is under the leadership of Sonia Gandhi that the Congress led UPA Government at the Centre has been able to remain in power and serve the people of India for two consecutive terms.
The UPA government would still come up for the third term and serve the people again.
Likewise, in Manipur, the SPA government has come a long way and now the government is run only by the Congress, Gaikhangam added.
The function was also attended by Congress Ministers and MLAs.
Later, as a part of the celebration, edibles were distributed among the inmates of the old aged home run by All Manipur Women's Association.
Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, Social Welfare Minister AK Mirabai, MLA Dr Ng Bijoy, VP of MPCC Achouba also handed over presents in the form of cash to the old aged home.
