Coordinating Body on Scheduled Tribe Demand Committee, Manipur (CBSTDCM) convenor Mutum Churamani has urged the organisations concerned not to call any bandh or blockade on September 18 in view of the scheduled mass rally on ST demand.
Speaking to reporters at a press club held at Manipur Press Club, he also urged the Departments concerned to postpone the recruitment examinations scheduled for the day.
He said that STDCM and CBSTDCM along with the general public staged relay hunger strike from August 7 to 31 .
The committee has been organising public meetings at different places since September 1 and it would conclude on September 12, Churamani said.
The mass rally would be flagged off from THAU ground at 10.30 am, he said and added that it would be taken out up to Khuman Lampak main stadium.
Saying that publicity and mobilisation campaigns for the mass rally is going on, Churamani said that necessary permission has been taken from the DC concerned for the said rally.
Stating that ST demand is a public issue, the convenor urged one and all to take part in the rally.
STDCM joint secretary Takhellambam Bhogendro, working president Naodalen Khomba and STDCM general secretary Laishram Lokendra also attended the press conference.
