Asking educational institutions to comply with the guidelines of Board of Secondary Education Manipur with regard to curriculum and syllabus, Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) cautioned that schools found defying the prescribed norms would be dealt with accordingly.
Along with observing the 7th anniversary of its academic campaign called 'Eikhoi Lairik ningthina Tamsi' today, the student body also resolved to sustain the said campaign through widespread awareness programmes and inspection visits to schools.
Pointing out that in case the Board guidelines are found to be irrelevant to the modern day educational needs authorities concerned would be urged to amend or rectify the school curricula, MSF declared that focus would on activities and function of SCERT.
In a similar manner, magazines and pamplets published in the State would be closely monitored as it has become inevitable to prohibit publication of certain journals that stand to corrupt the young minds, MSF affirmed and declared that it would not tolerate any anti-social activities in educational institutions.
Insisting that every school should have classes from Standard I to X with age-proof certificate/document issued by competent authorities as the main criteria for admission of beginners (class I), MSF also pledged to work for the betterment of students with physical disability, protection of the eco-system/environment, facilitate conduct of normal classes even during bandhs/strikes, check mal-practices by traders, transportation concession for students, limit number of students in private carriers (school vans) and actively participate in all issues that concern interest of the student community or the general public.
