Over Rs 3 lakh stolen from Spt ATM booth, NPO condemns

Senapati, December 08 2015:
Making it one of the high profile crimes in the district, Rs 33,96,500 (thirty three lakhs, ninety six thousand and five hundred rupees) was stolen from an SBI ATM booth near MAHUD public toilet at Senapati DHQs.
According to police, the incident could have happened anytime between 11.30 am of December 3 and 12 noon of December 4.The police are still clueless about the exact timing of the theft.
The robbery came to light at about 6:30 pm on December 4 .
An FIR has been lodged at Senapati police station under 25 (12) 2015 SPT/PS under Section 380/409/34 of the Indian Penal Code.
Police sources till date has not made any official arrest but close sources indicated that some suspects has been cornered for necessary interrogation and investigations.
Even though it is an SBI ATM booth, it is outsourced to RIDIANT Company which has been tasked to maintain security to the ATM booths at Mao and Senapati DHQs.
Police have also noted that the ATM machine and the shutter at Hazungla House where the ATM is located near the old Senapati public toilet have not been damaged.
Important leads are understood to have been gathered and further investigation is going on till the time of filing this report.
Meanwhile the Naga Peoples' Organization (NPO) and its constituent units of Poumai, Mao, Maram, Zeliangrong and Thangal has strongly condemned the incident and demanded the police to book the culprits and punish them accordingly.
The misuse of public property by any individual or organization cannot be compromised at any cost stated the apex body.
When people have lauded the installations of ATM booths in the DHQs town to extend all necessary conveniences, such unwanted and anti-social crimes cannot be allowed at all cost, said NPO.
The NPO demanded the authorities concerned and Senapati police to seriously investigate the matter and punish those responsible as per the law of the land.
It further warned that, any form of anti-people activities/crimes will not be tolerated in the district.
