Four hurt in poll related violence

Imphal, October 08 2016:
At least four persons were injured apart from damages to one Bolero jeep and an A-Star car in a poll related violence that took place at Keirao Makting Makha Leikai yesterday.
Speaking to media persons today, Md Nasiruddin alias Bothoi who is preparing to contest the forthcoming Assembly election on BJP ticket said that he and a group of supporters were going to Keirao Makting Makha Leikai in three vehicles to hold a camera meeting .
As they approached the meeting venue, they were allegedly blocked by a group of people who were said to be supporters of MI Khan.
The next moment, the group was attacked by the alleged supporters of MI Khan and the assailants also started opening fire randomly.
Nasiruddin said that four of his supporters were injured in the attack and two vehicles were damaged.
Saying that he has lodged a complaint at Irilbung police station regarding the attack, Nasiruddin maintained that it is a democratic right to hold public meetings and he cannot be intimidated by violence.
With the State scheduled to go for polls in the early part of next year, campaigning has started at almost all the Assembly Constituencies with many intending candidates seeking support.
