Five more Dengue cases detected

Five new cases of Dengue infection have been detected today taking the total number of confirmed cases to 21 .
Of the five people tested positive today, four belong to Thangmeiband while the other one is a resident of Tamenglong.
So far, 19 people have been confirmed for infection by Dengue in Thangmeiband and two in Tamenglong.
Meanwhile, Health Director Dr O Ibomcha, accompanied by Health Department officials, today went to different places of Thangmeiband and inspected the precautionary measures taken up there.
Dr Ibomcha said that he went to different places of Thangmeiband AC to check if there are any lapses in the precautionary and containment measures taken up at these places.
He said that fogging exercise and treatment of mosquito nets with chemicals would be launched extensively.
The Director maintained people need not be panicky about the Dengue outbreak.
Out of 100 people bitten by mosquitoes, 80 would be unaffected.
Out of the remaining 20, 15 would suffer mild illness but the other five may suffer severe illness, Dr Ibomcha said.
He advised that one should get blood test done if he/she is suffering from fever and people should not keep stagnant water around dwelling houses.
