Hailstorm wreaks havoc

Several villagers in the remote Indo-Myanmar border of Chandel district were rendered homeless as hailstorm lashed the area.
It has been learnt that hailstorm hit the area on May 3 .
Sk Larshing Lamkang, chief of Parolon said that the hails pierced through the roofs and the villagers had to seek shelter under their cot.
Though the storm lasted for about half an hour, it left a trail of destruction as many roofs were blown away and many houses razed to the ground, the chief said.
The primary school and a PHSC buildings were completely damaged, he said adding the hails were about half feet thick above the ground and he hail weights about 250-30 gms with horns.
The nature's wrath continued to hit the area for two consecutive days.
He went on to say that the same type of hail storm continue to storm the villages on the next day at around 3: 30 am in the morning houses including school and PHSC building located in the villages, collapsed and destroying standing fruit crops like oranges, lemon, mangoes and other cash crops.
The two chiefs and a Pastor of the affected villages urged the district administration and all concerned to extend help and relief to the affected villages.
