The Thangmeiband United Club (TUC) has called a 24 hours bandh with effect from this midnight till tomorrow midnight in connection with the death of Thokchom Tony alias Jagat.
A press release issued by the general secretary of TUC stated that a public meeting was held today and various resolutions were passed in the said meeting.
It mentioned that TUC will give a reward of Rs 1 lakh to anyone who can identify the people involved in the death of Tony or provide any information leading to the arrest of those involved.
It also resolved to impose a 24 hours bandh in Thangmeiband area, starting from today midnight till tomorrow midnight.
It further mentioned that students (in school uniforms) and parents transporting their children for examination, patients, traditional ceremonies/rituals, essential services like fire, medical, water supply etc, will be exempted from the bandh.
The meeting further resolved to take up necessary actions in the future, in collaboration with various Meira Paibi Lups and CSOs.
It also assured to call off the bandh immediately in case the culprits are nabbed.
It may be mentioned that Thokchom Tony (21) s/o Th Suresh, was shot dead at the gate of his own residence at Nagamapal Phougeisangbam Leikai, by unidentified miscreants who came in a red car at around 1:20 am of March 3 .
Although he was rushed to Raj Medicity, he succumbed to his injuries.
Tony was returning home after taking part in a Thabal Chongba event with his friends.
Tony used to drive a mini truck for a living.
