Imphal, December 03 2012:
Federation of all Tribal Youth Clubs, Manipur (FATYCM) has taken the aggrieved Autnomous District Council (ADC) teachers case to the Manipur Governor today apprising the latter to "advise" the state government to pay the salaries of the ADC teachers of the hill districts of Manipur and also to "link up their services from 2006" .
According to FATYCM memorandum, the state government had appointed 1113 teachers and these teachers enjoyed their salaries initially.
"But to the utter surprise, the salaries of 835 teachers were stopped without any reason," alleged the FATYCM memorandum.
It then said, "We consider that this treatment is a glare violation of the Constitution of India and amounts to discrimination of human rights" .
FATYCM then said the victims had filed various writ petitions in this connection in the court and the court in return had passed various orders directing the state government to release the teachers salaries but the state government did not pay any heed to the court orders.
"As a result, contempt of court proceeding was taken up against the state government for the violation of the honourable court order and the respondents had also appeared in persons before the court as per the direction of the honourable court," the FATYCM memo stated.
Meanwhile, talking to reporters, FATYCM president R Asing and its general secretary Letthang Haokip said that for the districts of Tamenglong, Senapati and Churachandpur, the first 11 months' salaries were paid while for Sadar Hills, first 10 months salaries were given to the ADC teachers and 9 months for Ukhrul and four months for Chandel district.
"In case the salaries for the said teachers are not cleared at the earliest time, we will take the case to New Delhi and lodge complaint to the concerned Union ministry," R Asing and Letthang Haokip said.
