Under its campaign to take HIV/AIDS awareness programmes to every Assembly constituency of the State, the Manipur Legislative Forum on
HIV/AIDS organised a similar awareness programme Ngaikhong Khullen Bazar in Oinam constituency.
Speaking as chief guest on the occasion, secretary of the Forum I Ibohanbi assured that necessary efforts will be initiated to avail ART facility at Bishnupur district hospital.
He said that people living with HIV/AIDS should be always cautious against spreading the disease to unaffected persons.
On the other hand, unaffected people should also learn about HIV/AIDS so that they keep off the disease.
In addition to the ART centres already opened at RIMS, JN Hospital, Ukhrul hospital and Churachandpur hospital, another ART centre will be opened at Bishnupur district hospital, stated Ibohanbi.
Besides organising conventions on HIV/AIDS in hill constituencies, discussion programmes with church leaders will also be conducted, he said.
The programme organised in collaboration with UNAIDS was also attended by Oinam A/C MPP president W Thonglen, UNAIDS co-ordinator Sushil Huidrom, Manipur Legislative Forum joint secretary L Ibotombi, Nikel of MACS, CMO of Bishnupur district Dr W Gullapi and L Gopal of Lifeline Foundation as presidium members.
Stating that Bishnupur district hospital has opened Voluntary Counselling and Confidential Testing Centre (VCCTC), Gullapi appealed to all to come to the centre for HIV test if they have slight suspicion of HIV infection.
