Imphal, November 02 2014:
Visa on arrival facility would be opened ahead of the Manipur Sangai Festival 2014 at Moreh and Tulihal International Airport.
Due training of officials and staff who would man the regional passport office at Imphal has also been completed.
A high ranking official of Home Department informed that necessary infrastructure for opening visa on arrival facility at Moreh have been procured.
These infrastructure would be installed within a week.
The Ministry of External Affairs would soon issue due notification for opening visa on arrival facility at Moreh and the same procedure would be completed for the Manipur Sangai Festival, informed the official.
As for the Imphal international airport, all the requisite infrastructure have been already put in place and the visa on arrival facility would become operational once the Ministry of External Affairs issues due notification.
In the meantime, the training course of officials and staff who would man the regional passport office which is being set up at Imphal has concluded.
Officials of the regional passport office would sign a land lease agreement with the State Government for the office complex of the passport office next month, conveyed the official.
Due procedures to activate the passport office would be initiated once the land lease agreement is signed.
Notably, the State Government has already allotted necessary plot/office for the regional passport office at the Old Assembly building.
It has been already reported that regular chartered flight would be introduced between Imphal and Mandalay on the opening day of Manipur Sangai Festival 2014 .
