CM, MPCC condole

Chief Minister, N Biren and MPCC president, M Okendro have condoled the demise of former President of India, Pranab Mukherjee.
In a condolence note, the Chief Minister stated that he is deeply aggrieved to learn the demise of the former President at the age of 84 .
The former President was indeed an inspirational figure, who had served the country with great diligence in different capacities, it said.
He had occupied several key ministerial portfolios in the Government of India during his long political career spanning around five decades, it continued while recalling that he was honoured with Bharat Ratna in 2019 and Padma Vibhusan in 2008."The country has lost a precious son of the soil with his demise.
His absence will leave a huge void while will be hard to fill up.
His contributions to the political and economic sphere of the country will be fondly remembered by the people," it said.
"On behalf of the Government and people of Manipur, I convey my deepest condolences and share grief with the bereaved family," it continued.
Meanwhile, State Congress president, M Okendro in his condolence message stated that the country has lost a great leader, politician and statesman with the demise of Pranab Mukherjee.
"He was the 13th President of India, the highest office in the country, from 2012 to 2017 .
A veteran leader of Indian National Congress, he served the country as Minister of Finance, External Affairs, Defence and head of Planning Commission in his political career spanning for more than fifty years," said Okendro in the statement.
The former President was conferred the highest civilian award, Bharat Ratna by the Government of India last year in recognition of his role in building a new India, Okendro continued while praying that the departed soul may rest in peace.
