Nungba Churches reach out with gifts

Imphal, April 30 2020:
Strengthening the bond of brotherhood and showing solidarity amid the lockdown due to novel coronavirus outbreak, Southern Evangelistic Fellowship (SEF), comprising of 17 Churches in Nungba Area, has donated vegetables to Chief Minister N Biren Singh and United Committee Manipur today for distribution to the people and help them in the difficult times during the lockdown period.
UCM members received the vegetables at its office and later some of it were also presented to the Chief Minister.
The SEF brought loads of vegetables in about 5 vehicles including two Shaktiman vehicles to be presented to the Chief Minister, Ministers and UCM.
Appreciating the gesture, UCM president Sunil Karam said that the act will go a long way in cementing the relationship between the valley and hills.
COVID-19 has pushed people to extreme hardships.
Such act of kindness and solidarity at this time is proof of unity and brotherhood amongst hill and the valley people, said Sunil adding valley people should also extend the same assistance to the hill people during the lockdown and help one another.
"If we continue to care for each other like today and stand united, no external force can shatter us," said Sunil.
Rengpang Baptist Church, Pastor Gaihaklung Gangmei said that Pastors of the Churches concerned and village elders had decided to assist the valley brother and sisters to provide relief during the lockdown.
"Loving God means loving thy neighbours.
We should care for our neighbours at tough times," he said adding the Chief Minister has also appreciated the SEF for the assistance it provided.
He also wished that the tradition of helping each other in times of need continues in the future to forge a stronger bond between the hills and the valley.
