44 AR organises 'Mass vaccination cum free medical camps'

Imphal, June 28 2021:
44 Assam Rifles under the aegis of 22 Sector/ IGAR (East) in collaboration with State Health Department, Irang Area COVID Task Force and Community Leaders of Kangpokpi District started two days vaccination cum free medical camp with the aim of maximising number of beneficiaries especially elderly and physically challenged persons of Irang valley in Kangpokpi district.
Mobile hospital facilities are being set up with a community based approach.
Vaccination sessions would be conducted nearer to home.
The two days mobile vaccination drive has be organised as "Near To Home" cum Free medical Camp in Manedara Village today and will be held in Paudel Basti on July 1 of Irang Part I in Kangpokpi District.
Aim is to provide free vaccines to the people of the area where medical facilities are not available so that they are prepared to tackle the third covid wave.
Tamenglong Battalion till date have successfully administered 1293 first doses to the civilian beneficiaries.
It's medical team is targeting to administer 10000 vaccines in days to come with the support of the Health Department of the State and local MLA of the area.
The aim of the mobile vaccination drive is to provide free vaccines near to the homes of Physically challenged people and senior citizens since they have limited mobility due to their physical and various health issues.
The medical team of Tamenglong Battalion alongwith PHC, T Waichong staff administered first jab to 151 beneficiaries.
The team has also reached out to the elderly people of the area.
To further spread the covid awareness during the camp, the medical team of 44 Assam Rifles displayed various banners and posters on COVID-19.The team also carried out sanitization of the village.
The unit CMO delivered a lecture on basic knowledge on health and hygiene education including precautions from common viral diseases, COVID-19 complications and about the vaccination eagerness/hesitancy.
Premananda Meetei, Manipur State BJP General Secretary while visiting the camp highlighted that the vaccine is very safe and it will protect people as well their community.
People do not require any appointment to get vaccinated since the mobile vaccination drive is providing them at the sport registration facility with the assistance of district health department data entry staff.
He further urged the community leaders and Covid task force of the district to motivate the villagers to come forward for the vaccination to contain the further spread of this deadly disease in the community.
He was accompanied by Tingnei Kipgen, President, Kangpokpi BJP Mandal and Bikash Basnet, ADC, Irang Part I and Hari Prasad Nepal, GB, Irang Part I.The unit CMO further urged people to identify the locations/ centre for organizing these types of vaccination drives in the area.
The unit medical team organized a free medical camp on the sidelines of vaccination.
The medical team attended and examined patients at the spot.
A total of 102 people were examined and necessary general medicine was provided during the medical camp.
The successful implementation of mobile hospitals for mobile vaccination in far flung areas of the area shall help make vaccines available to these people residing here.
Till date the unit medical staff with the help of district COVID Task Force and community leaders of the village have been able to vaccinate 534 beneficiaries of the Kangpokpi district.
Now these beneficiaries are caring for themselves and at large their community.
With the mobile vaccination drive the unit is able to keep the infection risk very low in the region by contributing towards enhancing the immunity of people.
This is one among the numerous activities undertaken by the Battalion to ensure well being of the villagers and alleviates their hardships.
The helping act is a reinforcement of the Battalion's thought of always standing by the side of people from its area.
Assam Rifles once again truly stood by their motto of Friends of the Northeast People.
The locals of the area are overwhelmed by the support from the battalion and appreciated the commitment of the medical team of 44 Assam Rifles along with Dr Mohd Arif, MO Incharge, PHC T Waichong, Dr J Touthang, CMO Kangpokpi and Dr Len Kamshosat for organizing such a mass two days vaccination drive and free medical camp in the area for overall well being of the people of Kangpokpi.
On the second day of the camp a similar vaccination cum free medical camp shall be organised by the battalion in Paudel Basti on the occasion of Doctor's Day on July 1 .
The Battalion also organised a similar programme in Tamenglong district and 39 individuals were vaccinated at the camp today.
