Continuing its activities to check price anomalies of items and whether the traders sell expired items or in underweight in markets, Protection and Preservation Committee, Manipur (PPCM) and its students' wing launched a drive in Bishnupur bazar and also conducted an awareness programme on Friday.
Informing this in a release, PPCM revealed that items were found sold underweight in the market during the inspection.
The shop owners told them that there might be weight and measurement officials in Bishnupur district but they never come for inspection.
Conveying that they directed the shop owners to change the weighing machine within Saturday, PPCM cautioned of taking help of.
the court if they did not change the scale.
While opining that the weight and measurement department seems to be defunct, the release said similar drives will be carried out in Thoubal, Kakching, Wangjing, Lilong, Nambol and Moirang areas.
