Sit-in demands release of murder suspect

Thoubal, August 23 2022: A sit-in protest was staged by locals of Yairipok Tulihal near Azad Higher Secondary School on Tuesday demanding unconditional release of Md Aktar Hussain (49), son of (late) Md Basheruddin of Yairipok Tulihal near Azad Higher Secondary School, who was arrested by Yairipok Police in connection with recovery of a body from Thoubal river at Yairipok Bamol Leikai on August 14 .

Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of the protest organised by Sacrifice Youth Development Organisation Yairipok Tulihal, one of the protestors Aisha Ahamed recounted that the arrest of Md Aktar Hussain on August 16 by police in connection with the death of one Mayonmi Ningsen is unjustifiable.

He is a simple man who is working hard to take care of his family and had simply joined in the searching the deceased person, she said and termed the police action as condemnable.

If Md Aktar is not released unconditionally by August 25 then a JAC will be formed and intense agitation will be launched with support of other organisations till he is released, she cautioned.

The protestors held placards and shouted slogans demanding release of Md Aktar by August 25 .
