Imphal, June 23 2022:
Under RKVY and ATMA schemes, All Manipur Progressive Farmers' Association (AMPFA) organised a training programme for farmers on pest management and quality seed production of paddy at Heirok Part-2 community hall on Thursday.
Speaking at the training programme, RKVY and ATMA nodal officer, Th Joyprakash pointed out that the schemes are aimed at giving more experience/exposure to the farmers and enhance productivity through adoption of new technology, ideas and demonstrations.
According to AMPFA president K Thoiba Meetei, the association has been helping farmers whenever they face inconveniences and have grievances.
While stating that in developed countries, farmers are encouraged by taking up several developmental initiatives for them, he contended that in Manipur schemes and fund meant for the food producers are misappropriated instead of taking up development activities for the farmers.
As a part of the training programme, paddy saplings and 50 sprayer pumps were handed over to the farmers at subsidised rate under RKVY and ATMA schemes while subject experts delivered lectures on topics related to farming.
