IGAR (S) conducts medical camp, quiz competitions

Khuga Battalion of IGAR (South) conducted a medical camp at Theigothang village in Churachandpur district on Thursday during which a total 18 villagers were examined and essential medicines distributed to those in need.
According to PRO IGAR (S), the villagers were also briefed about the ill effects of drugs and importance of hygiene and sanitation in daily routine to avoid unwarranted diseases.
Special focus was given on educating the villagers on contagious diseases during monsoon season and ways to prevent them.
In another release, the PRO said that Chassad, Shangshak and Somsai Battalions of IGAR (S) on Thursday conducted quiz competitions for troops as part of series of planned events to commemorate 8th International Day of Yoga at Shangshak, Somsai and Chassad Battalions.
The competition consist ed of questionnaires with the focus of keeping troops and children abreast with the knowledge of yoga.
The initiative brought public interest in yoga by focusing on its importance and contributions to health.
Troops and children attempted the quiz with great zeal with backdrop of knowledge gained through various yoga sessions and classes.
The teachers also well received the initiative taken by Assam Rifles, the PRO said.
