Imphal, September 15 2021:
Farmers' Joint Action Committee has urged the people of Manipur to support the nation-wide bandh being called by farmers on September 27 as part of ongoing protests demanding revocation of the three farm laws passed by the government of India.
In a release, the Committee said that farmers' organisations have been protesting against the three contentious farm laws by holding rallies and sit-ins in Delhi and the September 27 agitation is in pursuance of the same demand.
Instead of trying to solve issues beset ting the farmers, the government is focusing on the next election, the Committee said and reasoned that the farmers will never protest if the farm laws are for the welfare of the farmers.
Further stating that the said laws will benefit the corporates more instead of the toiling farmers, the release accused the government of disregarding interests of the food producers despite deaths of some farmers during the protest led by Sangyukta Kishan Morcha.
The committee alleged that the government is against farmers and daily wage earners.
