Spring Water Harvesting unit inaugurated

With the support of Central Forest Division, Manipur; Sustainable Water and Forest Conservation Project, which is funded by the ICICI Foundation, inaugurated a Spring Water Harvesting unit at Nongpok Achiba in Imphal East district on Monday.
The inaugural function was attended by Imphal East DC Khumanthem Diana Devi, Central Forest Division DFO RK Amarjit Singh, Imphal East ADC Ng Jogendra Khumancha, ICICI Foundation project manager Pumgouthang, ICICI Bank regional head KSJ Gangte and Nongmaijing Tera Khong village leader Yangkhulen Baite a presidium members.
Speaking at the function, DC Diana acknowledged the initiatives of ICICI Foundation in Manipur and also highlighted the advantages of living in the hilly areas where there are abundant water, quality air and less pollution.
She appealed to the people of the village to safeguard the structure and make good use of it and at the same time conserve the forest.
In his address, RK Amarjit Singh mentioned that the water provided by the tanks were tested and could be used for consumption.
Along with elaborating on forest preservation activities in areas around Nongpok Achiba, which is Reserved Forest, he stressed the need for taking good care and efficient utilisation of the structure.
Meanwhile, village leader Yangkhullen Baite expressed his gratitude towards the Forest Department and ICICI Foundation for bringing development to their village.
