JT Road bandh to continue till June 19

After the 48-hour bandh imposed on Jiri-Tipaimukh Road (JT Road) from June 12 demanding repairing of the said road did not evoke any positive response from the side of the government, the protesters nave decided to continue the bandh till June 19.Addressing a press conference held at Jiribam Chingdong Leikai on Wednesday, Meira Club Chingdong Leikai president A Gopimohon Sharma stated that a 48-hour bandh was imposed on JT Road from June 12 as the authority concerned continued to ignore the deplorable condition of the road despite repeated appeals and reminders.
Subsequently, a meeting was held in connection with the bandh with deputy commissioner Jiribam but no positive response came from the government.
Hence, they have decided to continue the bandh till 6 pm of June 19, he announced.
Gopimohon continued that if the authority concerned does not give any positive response even after the extended bandh, then they would declare bandh on NH 37 with support from various CSOs and student organisations from the very next day (June 20) .
The press meet was also attended by locals of Chingdong Leikai and leaders of Various CSOs.
