Moreh, January 31 2023:
Residents of Moreh Ward No 9 New Khunou Kodum Pam Leikai have urged the government to look into plight of the villagers settling in border areas.
According to a villager of New Khunou Kodum Pam Leikai, most of the residential houses in the border village are in shabby condition but could not carry out repair work due to financial constraints as most of the villagers are now jobless and facing untold hardships.
Though the said villagers could ensure two square meals a day before the closure of the Namphalong market they have no means now due to prolonged shut -down of the market, the villager said, adding that almost all the inhabitants of New Khunou Kodum Pam Leikai are now without any source of livelihood.
In view of the present law & order situation in Myanmar, New Khunou Kodum Pam Leikai villagers fear of venturing into the Myanmar territory for fishing and other activities they were used to in the past, the villager added.
