ZUF bats for sports activities as tribute to Jadonang

Imphal, August 25 2021:
Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) has appealed to the people to pay homage to Haipou Jadonang on his 90th Martyrdom on August 29 .
In a release, ZUF ministry of information and publicity secretary Hozam Thaimei stated that Haipou Zadonang, who had launched a campaign against the then British regime, was hanged at Imphal Jail on August 29, 1931 on the charge of waging war against the British crown.
ZUF appealed to all especially Zeliangrong people to observe the day by carrying out 'homage-candle-lighting' or lighting of traditional torches at 6 pm to mark the martyrdom of Jadonang.
All the Zeliangrong villages must close their gates, government and private institutions must also cease activities on this day to show love and respect and pay tribute to the departed leader who sacrificed his life at the altar of freedom, it stated.
ZUF further requested clubs and organisations to conduct games and sports activities in a befitting manner and to ensure that the slogan 'Zeliangrong Ringtelo' echoes at every gathering at the end of the day.
