Imphal, May 05 2022:
Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has urged the state government to appoint the director of SCERT, the post of which has been lying vacant since March 1, 2021, without delay.
In a Release, DESAM publicity secretary Thoudam Shyamjai said that the SCERT director is the most important post for the department.
DESAM had already exerted pressure for filling up the vacant post of director within 100 days of the new government coming to power on April 8 .
When DESAM investigated the matter, there were several issues in the department including dispute in seniority list among the officials who could become director, legality and illegality in the promotion of joint director and even went to court for resolving the disputes, Shyamjai revealed, while stating that the non-appointment of director of SCERT, which is related to education and students, is creating serious inconveniences.
Reiterating the demand for appointing the director without further delay, Shyamjai cautioned of launching intense protest if the government ignores the demand.
