Sit-in staged against liquor legalisation

Imphal, November 28 2022:
CADA, Nupi Samaj and Tammi Chingmi jointly organised a sit-in protest to denounce the decision of the government to legalise production and sale of liquor in Manipur, at Uripok Yambem Leikai, here, on Monday.
The protester also held placards inscribed "Can consumption of legalised liquor prevent crime?'', "Is legalisation of liquor appropriate amidst war on drugs?", "Legalisation of liquor is like no to drugs but yes to alcohol", "Is consumption of legalised liquor not injurious to human health?", etc.
All Manipur Women Social Reformation & Development Samaj (Nupi Samaj), EECHAL, Wabagai Leirak Achouba Meira Paibi and CADA also jointly organised a sit-in protest at Wabagai Leirak Achouba in Kakching district on Monday during which the protesters displayed placards and raised slogans against liquor legalisation and demanded the Manipur government to revoke its decision.
Meanwhile, Nupi Samaj, CADA and Kodompokpi Apunba Meira Paibi also organised a torch rally at Kodompokpi on Sunday evening to protest the government's decision for legalisation of liquor in the state.
The participants of the torch rally raised slogans against liquor legalisation and demanded revocation of the same.
