3 jailed Burmese refugees go missing

Imphal, January 22 2023:
Three Burmese (Myanmarese nationals) refugees, who were detained at the Temporary Jail in Sadbhavna Mandap, Khominthang, New Lamka in Churachandpur district were reportedly found missing on Sunday morning.
The three refugees have been identified as Winmintay (28) s/o Tharcha, Win Naing Thon (27) s/o Mawia and Biaka alias Hengza (17) s/o Usawmlei of Myanmar.
According to a police report, the trio was arrested for illegally entering India under the Foreigner Act and detained at the Temporary Jail.
Win Naing Thon and Winmintay have been at the Temporary jail since April 4, 2021, while Biaka was detained on March 29, 2022 .
All three reportedly fled from the jail and discovered missing around 8am on Sunday.
In this regard, Churachandpur PS has registered a case and further investigation is underway.
