Senapati, July 31 2021:
United Naga Council (UNC) has announced a "total shut down" on August 3 in all the "Naga areas" of Manipur for 12 hours to demonstrate its strong support to the Framework Agreement and also in protest against the failure to materialise even after prayerfully waiting for 6 long years.
In a press statement issued to Newmai News Network, UNC said that the "total shutdown" will begin from the midnight of August 2 and will culminate at 12 noon on August 3 .
UNC also said that the move was taken up as a way to observe the anniversary of "Indo-Naga Framework Agreement" which was signed on August 3, 2015 in New Delhi.
The Naga body further "directed tribe presidents" to ensure that the "total shutdown" is strictly enforced in their respective jurisdictions.
