Imphal, September 25 2021:
The Magulong Na Students' Union (MNSU) expressed strong dissatisfaction over the lackadaisical attitude towards execution of road construction project (black topping) from Katang to Magulong, which was done under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).
A release by its media cell claimed that the road is in a dilapidated state till today even when the project commencement schedule is over.
It said that the project work commenced on March 3, 2019 and completed in September 12, 2020 while the maintenance work should be carried on from September 13, 2020 till September 12, 2025.The students' body also claimed that the said road which is supposed to have 12 culverts has only two completed culverts and two retaining walls out of the total eight.
Moreover, the road surface work executed so far is not compatible to the prescribed guideline for quality as is evident from even four-by-four wheelers unable to operate.
"This road is the life-line of the village without which life would be miserable," said MNSU and urged authorities concerned, contractors in particular to look into the matter at the earliest.
It also cautioned that though Magulong villagers have been extending utmost support and cooperation to the work agencies under no circumstance should the people's friendly disposition be taken for granted.
Magulong village is located in the north-west border of the state under Tamenglong
district's Tousem sub-division.
