Advisory issued for Influenza A, no new Covid-19 case reported

Imphal, March 13 2023:
In view of the recent surge in number of Influenza A (H3N2) in many parts of the country and possibilities of the cases occurring in the state, the directorate of health services has issued an advisory to the general public to stay safe from the virus.
The advisory issued by health services director, Dr Kh Sasheekumar Mangang appealed to the public to wash hands with shops and water frequently; cover nose and mouth with disposable tissue or handkerchief while coughing or sneezing; drink plenty of water/liquids and eat nutritious food; keep distance of one arm's length from person suffering with flu; avoid crowded places; and take adequate sleep & rest.
It also appealed to the public to refrain from spitting in public places; touching eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands; taking antibiotics or other medicines without consulting doctor; hugging, kissing and shaking hands while greeting; touch ing contaminated surfaces; and excessive physical exercise.
The advisory further informed all CMOs, MSs of public and private hospitals, and DSOs to report cases of Influenza like Illness (ILI), Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) to the SE/SSO of NHM Manipur in prescribed format.
Meanwhile, government bulletins on Monday reported no new case of Covid-19 out of 73 samples tested in the last 24 hours.
On the other hand, no vaccine doses were administered on Sunday and the total number of vaccinated persons stands at 16,49,448 out of which 13,39,155 had received second dose and 2,80,406 had precautionary doses.
So far, the state has recorded 1,39,924 positive cases out of which 2149 died.
