CCpur, June 02 2021:
Following an order issued by DC Churachandpur, the district police on Wednesday removed barricades and road blocks put up by Covid task forces of different villages.
Police dismantled the barricades in different localities like Thengra Leirak, Khuga Tampak, Khumujamba, Ngulthong Bazar and Vengnuam areas among others.
Police said that they appreciate the proactive role of VTF in the fight against Covid-19 but they were advised not to block roads or put up barricades since these can delay movement of vehicles and personnel engaged in emergency services and disturb genuine people coming out to get essential goods.
Unfortunately, VTFs persisted with their arrangement and so the police had to intervene and remove them.
"We do not want to discourage the Village Level Task Force.
They want to protect their own localities and we understand it.
In containment zone areas, there are areas where no person/vehicle can move and we need to put up ropes to enforce the containment order only in those areas, a police officer said while urging the public to understand the situation and obey the government orders.
