Non-local found dead with stab wounds

Thoubal, January 28 2022:
Lifeless body of a non-local man was found along the roadside at Thoubal Sabaltongba Salam under Thoubal police station on Friday around 6.30 am.
The deceased has been later identified as Ashutosh Prasad (35) son of Siyaram Prasad of Bihar Mirpur but was staying in a rented room at Paona Keithel, Governor Road.
He owned a shop at Kakhulong dealing in leather bags and purses.
According to police, the body was spotted by morning joggers.
There are more than 20 stabbing marks likely to have been inflicted by a sharp weapon on his stomach, back and neck.
Police recovered a knife and a sickle from the crime spot.
Though the exact cause of the death cannot be ascertained, it is believed that the person was murdered by stabbing after brutal thrashing.
A team of police and forensic expert has retrieved the body and kept it at JNIMS morgue for post-mortem examination.
A case has also been taken up at Thoubal police station in this regard, the police added.
Speaking to The People's Chronicle through telephone, brother-in-law Achhelal Bhagat informed that Ashutosh Prasad opened his shop till 6pm on Thursday.
However, it is not known whether he returned to his rented room at Paona Keithel or not.
The door of his room was not locked, he added.
