Imphal, December 11 2021:
The Indian Printing Packaging & Allied Machinery Association (IPAMA) organised a promotional meet in connection with the 15th PRINTPACK India and golden jubilee celebration of All Manipur Press Association (AMPA) at Hotel Imphal on Saturday.
Manipur Legislative Assembly speaker Yumnam Khemchand, who was chief guest of the event jointly organised by IPAMA and AMPA, conceded that participating at the event has made him understand apparent government inattention to an important sector and assured of extending all possible assistance from his side to fulfil association's goal of having a press park.
As Manipur is ranked spot in terms pf printing in the North East, every effort should be made to derive from South East Asia Trans highway, he said.
IPAMA immediate past president S Dayaker Reddy, in his speech, said that most of the people working in printing press couldhave become accidental printers and only few dreams of becoming printing technologist.
However, printing is second largest industry in the world and it would only develop further as there are many works which could not be replaced by e-platform, he said, adding that printing industry would remain as one of the largest industries of the world as long as technology continues to bring changes.
There is a Common Facility Centre (CFC) under MSME for printing industry and every printer could form a private company having not less than 25 people for which the central government provides Rs 16 crore to the company thus formed provided the company could be invested by the CFC.
Ten percent of the Rs 16 crore has to be borne by state government, he explained and appealed to those in printing industry in the state to avail benefit of this scheme.
He also said that small scale industry accounted for 65 percent of the country's GDP.
The event was also attended by AMPA and AIFMP East vice president Senjam Surjit as one of the presidium members.
