CADA urges Govt to not legalise alcohol

Condemning the state government's decision to legalise liquor in some parts of the state, Coalition Against Drugs and Alcohol (CADA), District Committee Jiribam has urged chief minister N Biren not to proceed with the decision.
Addressing a press meet held at the Committee office on Saturday, president Yumnam Sumati expressed strong resentment that the government has decided to legalise liquor in the state despite its harmful effects on health as well as being the cause for various ills afflicting the society.
The president questioned whether the CM cannot think of any other option for improving economy of the state other than legalising manufacture and sale of alcohol.
Y Sumati warned that if the government does not withdraw the decision, it would invite a mass protest.
The press meet was also attended by CADA Jiribam VP P Arun, publicity secretary Th Thoibi, finance secretary Th Shobabati and executive members.
