MP celebrates seven years of filmmaking journey

Recalling an eventful journey dotted with a fair share of ups and downs, the Meiphung Productions (MP), an Ukhrul-based film production firm, commemorated its 7th Anniversary of producing popular Tangkhul films here in Ukhrul town on Thursday.
To mark the special occasion, the Meiphung Productions team organised a low-key function at its Hamleikhong office.
The event was attended by TBCA mission secretary Rev Theophilus Zimik and the firm's legal consultant Sore-ishang Kharay (Advocate, Delhi High Court) among others.
Speaking on the occasion, Rev Zimik congratulated Meiphung Productions team for successful completion of seven years in its filmmaking journey.
He exhorted that Meiphung Productions has been making a tremendous contribution to the society through production of value-based films.
"God created nature perfectly and entrusted mankind to glorify His works," he said, adding that filmmaking is a process of participation in fulfilling this divine command.
He said that "in this digital age, movies which are easily available in various media platforms have a big role to play in motivating the public in a positive way.
According to Rev Zimik, filmmaking has huge responsibilities in catalysing positivity in the society.
"It can create positive impact on the spiritual and social life of the people, provided the process is pursued according to the will of God," he said.
As part of the celebration, the firm's Chief Operating Officer (COO) Seema Awungshi cut the anniversary cake in the presence of its soon-to-be-released movie's cast and crew members including Selina Chanting, Chingyaphy Shimray, Mayarthing Zimik, Yurreipem Chiphang, Yarmichon Varengnao, Hungmathot Hungshi and Philangam Shimrah.
Apart from unwavering public support, commitment and diligence on its part is what keeps the firm moving on through the last seven years despite various odds.
Acknowledging support, Seema Awungshi said "thank you all for your support and being with our team through thick and thin.
We look forward to same kind of response from you all in the coming days" .
She said that the team faced varied challenges in the course of its seven years of working.
"Thankfully, with the grace of God and with public support, we have been able to achieve many things in the last seven years,' she said.
According to Seema Awungshi, the team has managed to wrap up shooting of its latest movie 'Khanaowa Shongza' this year despite the Covid-19 pandemic which played spoilsport in 2020 .
"Our latest movie is tentatively set for release in October this year," she further revealed, while adding that the team is all set to start another new film project shortly in the current year.
Actress Chanthing of 'Man-gareiungluilu' also shared her experience of working with the MP team.
"It's been a wonderful experience working with the team in the past two years.
I'm thankful to the team.
They are very supportive and I learnt a great deal from them.
They have made me what I'm today," she remarked.
To its credit, the MP team has so far produced four successful movies namely, "Kha Yurna Mataimei", "Thotkha Mirin Khani", "LAY" and "Mangareiungluilu" since its inception in 2014 .
Apart from filmmaking, Mei-phung Productions is also engaged in different other areas of social cause.
Popular weekly talk show on YouTube channel 'Sharum', launched in 2020, is one of them.
Seema said "we are also currently concentrating on a 3-month football training for local youngsters.
Last year, we took up distribution of sanitary pads in the town".
The day's proceedings were punctuated by mesmerising numbers from upcoming singers Zingkumwon Ruivah and Samsung Vashum.
