Imphal, August 23 2022:
Residents of Yum-nam Leikai under Wangoi assembly constituency staged a sit-in protest on Tuesday urging local MLA Kh Loken to distribute the PMGAY rice quota for the month of May, which the MLA had already lifted but is missing.
Speaking on the sidelines, one of the beneficiary named Yumnam Pakpi alleged that the four-month old MLA Kh Loken and his clan representative Khuraijam Birjit had lifted the allocated rice for the month of April and May from FCI godown, Sangaiprou, but distributed only the quota for April to the people while withholding that of May.
Questioning the whereabouts of the May quota, Pakpi cautioned of taking legal action if the rice is not distributed at the earliest.
She then urged the MLA not to take advantage of the suffering of the people due to the pandemic, while urging the authority concerned and state government to look into the matter, adding that they have documents/papers proving the MLA had taken the rice.
Kh Loken was elected by the people of Wangoi, taking him as the most capable candidate of the many others.
However, it is questionable why he is denying the people their entitled benefits even as the month of August is coming to an end.
As such, she demanded the MLA to distribute the benefits of the people at the earliest.
